Save Water By Using Bamboo

The warm summer months are the perfect time to enjoy all the benefits of an abundant water supply. Most of us go to the beach, spend time poolside or run around in the sprinklers as much as possible to avoid melting in the sweltering heat. Here in the U.S. we often take for granted our access to water at any temperature at any time of day, but we need to take this opportunity to remember that it is a limited resource, despite evidence to the contrary from indoor plumbing and the proliferation of water parks.  Here are some tips for saving water this summer:

Tylenol, Motrin and Benadryl Products Recalled

A voluntary recall of children’s and adult Tylenol, Motrin and Benadryl was initiated on July 8, 2010. The manufacturer, McNeil Consumer Healthcare, acknowledged that multiple types of these products were exposed to a chemical called TBA that is used on wooden shipping and storage pallets. Trace amounts of this chemical have altered the makeup of the drugs, making them potentially harmful, though no medical incidents have been reported.

Inclement Weather Threatens Recent Progress in the Gulf

Though there has been some hope in the BP oil spill news,  bad weather may halt progress temporarily, possibly for up to two weeks. As you’ve probably heard, the oil company has been working furiously to get the compromised well capped and in so doing stop thousands of gallons of oil from spewing uncontrollably into our waters. The cap was put in place in the middle of last week with integrity testing continually monitoring the interior pressure. As pressure built on the valves of the cap, hope that the oil spill would be effectively contained until two relief wells could be completed increased. All of this progress could come to a sudden stop as Mother Nature throws yet another curve ball the gulf coast’s way.

Bamboo and Tikis is Around at Art Around Adams

Six years ago some small business owners decided they wanted to help create awareness for some very good local yet internationally known artists. Thus, in 2004, Art Around Adams was born in the North Park and Kensington neighborhoods of San Diego.

This year, Bamboo and Tikis participated in this unique San Diego art showcase. A venue was set up to display our eco-friendly bamboo designs and visitors were encouraged to ask questions about green backyard options while enjoying free beverages served from our bamboo tiki bar.

Fourth of July is This Weekend!

Fourth of July is this Sunday. Even though it seems like we just got done celebrating the beginning of spring and transitioning into the warmer months, the middle of summer is already upon us. Perhaps with all the goings-on of early 2010, you haven’t even realized it’s already the middle of the year. Fourth of July is a three day weekend for most people, and the perfect opportunity to take a second and slow down your faced paced lifestyle with some outdoor activities or parties. Here are some quick ideas for the whole family.

Happy Canada Day

As summer offers us yet another reason to throw a party, Canada Day is tomorrow, July 1st. Invite some people over after work to celebrate the anniversary of the Canadian Confederation in your island-themed oasis and fire up the grill. As there is no one way to observe Canada Day, do as the Canadians do and be original, decentralized and independent. Put that tiki bar to good use and take advantage of the warm summer months in your backyard or on the patio. Bamboo and Tiki’s offers all Canadians and those wishing to celebrate Canada’s history a Happy Canada Day.
